Asanka Kommalage who lives in Egoda Duwe, Kosgoda in Southern Sri Lanka had met I/D/E/A/S members initially during the aftermath of the 2004 December Tsunami. He had been severely affected by the disaster. His grocery shop was completely destroyed. I/D/E/A/S helped to rebuilt several houses in the Egoda Duwe Village and built a community centre. They also helped several villagers to restart their livelihoods by supporting them financially. Asanka was one such beneficiary and, received glass showcases for his grocery store.
In 2023-2024, I/D/E/A/S reconnected with the Egoda Duwe villagers through the Egoda Duwe Welfare Society. During this time, Asanka was helped financially to upscale his grocery items and, to include additional items such as vegetables, dry fish and, eggs.
It is noteworthy that by 2025 Asanka was able to expand his grocery store activities to include the sale of Lottery tickets done by National Lotteries Board. His customers have become the lucky winners of several prizes including that of Rs 1 M.
