S. Sanmugarajan living in Wanawasala area in Kelaniya, Colombo district is an entrepreneur who creates ornamental artificial Bonsai plants to cater to the interior décor needs of homes, offices, hotels and specific events and functions.
He uses newspaper pulp as his main raw material, apart from other items such as binder gum, wires, artificial leaves and paint.
I/D/E/A/S provided financial support to Sanmugarajan in early 2023 to purchase much-needed stocks of raw material to scale up his production. He was thereby able to produce ample quantities of Bonsai plants to fulfill the different needs of a growing customer base, notably the seasonal demand for replicas of ‘Bo tree’ during the Vesak period in the month of May.
