Oshani Warnapurage was a young undergraduate studying in the Agriculture faculty of the
University of Peradeniya. She, along with her mother, ventured into the business of growing,
packaging and selling mushrooms by starting a mushroom cultivation in the Year 2023 in the spare
room of their residence in Ethgala, Gampola in the Kandy district.
I/D/E/A/S supported Oshani in January 2024 with financial aid to purchase a new set of mushroom
seed pots and, to enhance the necessary irrigation equipment. While completing her university
degree on a very successful note, Oshani also succeeded in helping her family gain additional income
through the continued mushroom harvest.
